Breydel does its utmost to contribute to human health and environmental protection. Taking environmental protection measures, in addition to the legal requirements, is part of our company’s mission.
The influence of our activities on the local environment is monitored and the necessary efforts are made to realise continuous improvement of the situation. This requires maximum involvement of our employees.
Where possible, we save energy and natural resources. Breydel moved into a new building in June 2009. The warehouse roof is equipped with 50m2 of thermal solar collectors. These ensure production of hot water, also using the heat released by the cooling systems.
For purification of our waste water, we invested in a biological purification system. We use rainwater for the sanitary facilities and for cleaning the exterior of the vehicles.
Waste materials are avoided or graded as much as possible. The waste materials produced are processed in an environmentally responsible manner.
Breydel again participates in the East Flanders Environmental Charter, an initiative of Voka in collaboration with the Province of East Flanders (Belgium). The environmental charter is a useful instrument for internal structuring of environmental care and communications, and is subject to strict inspections by an evaluation committee.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming more and more important for businesses. With the collaboration of Fenavian (Federation of the Belgian
Meat Industry), Breydel wants to inspire other companies with this Sustainability report.
